Safety Tips
While receiving Bulk LPGOnly authorised personnel should be permitted to enter into the LPG yardAlways ensure proper earthing connections to the mobile LPG tanker before unloading operation Do not engage damaged / leaky hoses for unloading the tanker Replace gasket whenever unloading of LPG tanker takes place Do not carry out unloading operation during night time , Heavy rains, Thunder storms, Lighting etc Always tighten all fasteners of the LPG unloading hoses fully to the mobile tanker Do not overfill the LPG storage tank beyond the maximum filling limit of 85% Ensure hoses are depressurized prior to disconnecting from the tanker Out of LPGTurn off the main stop valveMake sure all appliances are turned off After delivery, the Under Pressure Shut Off (UPSO) valve (where fitted) Should be reset LPG OperationsAll LPG operations must be carried out by personnel well trained in LPG operationsMaintain good housekeeping inside the LPG yard. Remove all dry vegetation and other flammable materials Avoid all sources of ignition and make sure the “No Smoking” signs and other Safety signage’s are displayed Care should be taken when draining water (present if any) from storage tank in order to prevent escape of LPG/Propane/ Butane MaintenanceBefore carrying out any maintenance work, a work permit shall be obtainedAll maintenance operations inside the LPG yard must be carried out by authorised service personnel only No hot work like welding, cutting, heating shall be carried inside the LPG installation (fenced area) All maintenance work for burners or combustion system should be carried out through authorised Indane service provider’s personnel Safe Operation of LPG InstallationThere should be No Smoking and No Ignition Sources near the LPG vesselDo Not Allow rubbish or flammable materials to accumulate around the LPG vessel Keep foliage from growing around or over the LPG vessel Do not paint the LPG vessel or obscure any signs or labels attached to it Keep access to the LPG vessel free at all times Arrange for regular servicing of all your LPG appliances including flues If the premises are to be Left Unattended for a long period, Turn off the gas supply at the Emergency Stop Valve Any Faults or Damage to the LPG vessel should be reported to IOC Ltd Vessel Safety SystemYour installation may be fitted with one of two safety systems, Type A or Type B. Both are designed to guarantee the safe supply of LPG to your premises. Over Pressure Shut Off Valve (OPSO) Under Pressure Shut Off Valve (UPSO) In case of LeakageShould a gas leak occur, it is likely that it will be first noticed by the smellDo not Panic Isolate LPG supply from the LPG yard Stop all LPG Operations Turn off the supply at emergency and main stop valves Extinguish all naked lights and sources of ignition - NO SMOKING Open doors and windows. Beware that LPG is heavier than air and will collect at the lowest levels Do not SWITCH electrical appliances on or off – NO MOBILE PHONES Activate emergency management plan Contact your Inane Bulk Service Provider/ installer for internal leakages and appliance problems and IOCL Officials & Supplier in the event of an external leakage for Help In case of FireEvacuate the buildingCall the fire brigade Turn off the gas supply at the emergency stop valve if it is safe to do so Advise the Fire Officer of the existence of an LPG bulk storage tank Contact IOCL Please note that IOCL & Suppliers’ Technicians are only certified for working with external equipment - the vessel, pipe work and associated gauges and connectors
